Dear Katerina, …. Your enthusiasm, charm and knowledge made Prague a city we will never forget. I want to also thank you for personally taking us to Terezin. Your understanding, insight and capacity to reconstruct the tragedy of that era will forever change our lives. We consider it an honor that you would accompany us. Somehow I think you may come to Seattle before too long. It would be our pleasure to show you a little of our wonderful city. Until then, best wishes for continuing health, prosperity and peace in this confusing world. Sincerely, Bev
Dear Katka, Thank you for making our trip to Prague an unforgettable one, and a fantastic experience. Your energy, enthusiasm, knowledge and understanding of Prague and its past, as well as your ability to adapt to the needs of the various people in our tour group, was terrific. We very highly recommend you to anyone who wants to get the best out of the Prague experience. We all feel we have made a lifelong friend. Best Regards, Janine
Dear Katerina, As we were planning our trip to Prague you were so helpful to reccommend concerts and book them for us. When I was unable to make contact with a hotel in Trebon you made the reservation for me. While in Prage you navagated us through the city with energy and excitement. The city and its stories came alive for us. We especially enjoyed the stories of growing up under Communism. Your love of Prague was evident and contagious. Thank you, Lori and John
Katka, Thank you for setting up our May tours of Prague and Terezin with Gabriella. She was a great tour guide who gave us wonderful insight to life in Praque, the Czech Republic and the history of your area. The trip to Terezin went so quickly with the information Gabriella gave us along the way. I am glad we booked the private tour for the five of us and had Gabriella all to ourselves! -Kathy
Your guide, Martina, was an absolute delight. Her knowledge of Prague's history, Old Town, and the Jewish Quarter was absolutly amazing. We learned more about Prague in two days then we could ever learn in a year. Martina is very out going, personable and has a wonderful command of the English language. Martina's enthusiasm in sharing her love of Prague is quite evident, the four of us were overwhelmed. What a treat to have her to ourselves. Sincerely Judy
While we regret that you were not able to give us the tours personally -- we LOVED Vilma. We spent 2 days with her and grew very fond of her. We especially enjoyed learning about Prague from a local’s perspective – her knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm left us with a deep appreciation and love for the city.
I will highly recommend praguewalker to all of my friends. We also wanted to thank you for recommending a guide in Vienna. Lisa was great too!
We had two guides for the two half day tours and we were very happy with our guides. Our first guide took us to the usual sights. She was a little under the weather . our 2nd guide took us on an architectural tour of Prague and it was extremely interesting! We had a great time.! Thanks for arranging the guides katerina!
Again I want to tell you how much a tour with Praguewalker enriched our trip to your beautiful city. Irena, booked through Praguewalker was the best part of our visit. After her comprehensive tour we felt we had a basic understanding of Prague, the people and history. We gained a good sense of the layout of the city and were able to explore areas we would not have seen. We enjoyed having a private guide and not having to be stuck in a large tour group. Anyone going to Prague would be making a mistake by not booking a walking tour. I can't imagine anything better than Praguewalker.
Dear Katerina, We had the BEST time in the three days we were in Prague and your guides and recommendations helped to make it that way. We had two half day walking tours--one with Irene and one with Vilma. Both laides were excellent and knowledgeable. We were able to go at our own pace and it was much more enjoyable than being with a big group. Also all our transfers worked like clockwork. We spent a night at the cultural dinner which couldn't have been more fun. Thank you for making our trip even more memorable. Jane Haltness
Katerina was not available the day that I came to Prague but she arranged for another woman named Irena to take me around the city. She was wonderful and it was just like having a friend show you around. So if Katerina is not available feel free to take her advise and tour with one of her friends.
Yes, we had a wonderful trip. Irena was a wonderful guide. After three days we felt as we knew her well, and would recommend to our friends if they go there. I sent her a thank you and copy of the book, My Antonia by Willa Cather that was written in the US about an immigrant family from Bohemia who came to homestead in Nebraska in the late 1800's. Let me know if she does not receive it. Antonia was the daughter in the family. It is a wonderful classic in America and has never been out of print.
I recently finished The Absolute by Karel Capek, one of your revered writers. I had read his book The Gardener's Year a long time ago and enjoyed this one, science fiction.
After we left Irena, the next day we took a bus to Karlovy Vary. Paul played golf at the Karlovy Vary course and also we rented a car and drove to Mariansky Lazne and he played that course, the oldest in Prague. I had been there many years ago and always wanted him to see it. The fall colors were at their peak, something we hadn't expected. Wonderful!
From there, we brought the bus back to Prague and spent three more days. We went to a marionette show of Don Giovanni and it was ok, but I think the mime show might have been better. We wandered around and went to galleries and the Museum of Decoration. We were tired the last three days and mostly wandered around. We did a little shopping, very little, on the left side.
FYI, Paul was pickpocketed in the Prague bus station but he grabbed the guys hand and the wallet was dropped so we didn't lose it. Very interesting! It would be fun to stand and watch all the shenanigans that go on at the bus station now that we are personally experienced. In spite of this, we never once felt any fear of walking all over the city, day and night. But I felt like prey at the bus station. But we've experienced pickpocketing in the US too. It happens all over.
I hope we get a chance to come back to the Czech Republic. Next time I would like to have a car and drive all over the country, stopping in the small villages. Hope it happens.
Thanks again for your recommendations. I got your name from the Rick Steve's website or book, but maybe I told you that already.
Through Katerina we were provided Irena as our guide for two days. We were a group of seven close old (both in age and time we have known each other, 65-75 agewise, 65-30 in years known)friends, 3 couples and a single lady. First, my comment on dealing w/ Katerina. I contacted her in Jan preceding our Oct, 2007 trip and she definitely kept careful track of our appointment as did Irena. Katerina is 100% reliable, an important quality if you are--as I was--responsible for booking for all my friends. Next, Irena. A beautiful, lovely young woman who not only gave the best history of the Czech Republic from pre-Roman to current times in 20 minutes that one could ever hope for and all with injections of sly and wonderful humor. In two days she showed us everything we had ever expected to see and more: the first day spent primarily on the Castle side of the River, the second on the Main Plaza side. She also shared somewhat of life under Russian domination and her first-hand experience saddened us all deeply. Irena touched not just our minds, but our hearts and our souls. Thank you Katerina for introducing us to such a beautiful and intelligent lady! And thank you Irena for being you! Dick
Katerina arranged for Irena to guide us and we very much enjoyed our tour (Velvet Revolution). Irena was the perfect person to show us the sights of Prague. I have been highly recommending Praguewalker to my friends who are planning trips to Prague.
Our tour with Gabriela was precisely the tour we needed.
Katerina was unavailable the day that we toured Prague, so she set up a tour for the three of us with Gabriela. On the tour were my wife and small son (aged 4 years).
Gabriela met us promptly at the hotel, and we started our tour with the nearby Old Town Square. Our son was enchanted by the Astronomical Clock, of course, and Gabriela was very accommodating and patient with his curiosity and silliness, both. Additionally, although it wasn't in the original plan Gabriela had for our tour, we asked for a tour of Prague Castle, and she rearranged our tour on the fly, making for an outstanding experience for all of us.
The overview provided by Gabriela was precisely what we needed to give us a framework around which to plan the rest of our vacation, and the day following our tour, we returned to several of the sights she had indicated in passing. We were particularly interested in the monastery that Gabriela had described to us as we walked, and we would never have known about it without her guidance.
Dear Katerina, I just wanted to thank you for putting us in touch with Vendula, she was wonderful! Mum is not as mobile as she used to be but the pace was perfect, with stops and so much interesting information. If only my school History lessons had been like that! I hope to return with my husband, & will certainly be in touch for another guided tour. Kindest Regards Tracey
We recently visited Prague for our first time and wanted to make the best of our time there so we hired a private tour guide for 2 half day tours of the city. I would highly recommend the following guide service to anyone wishing to have a great and informative experience.
She arranged airport pick up and deliver to our hotel and met us at the hotel as promised the next morning to start our tour with questions about our interest and what was important for us to see. Along with some recommended restaurants where the "locals" eat we felt we were treated with a tour of exceptional value. Highly recommended
I want to let you know how much my family enjoyed our walking tour of Prague with your associate Gabriela. She helped make our first visit to your beautiful city a wonderful experience. She was able to answer our questions about a wide range of subjects from architecture to history to current events. We would certainly recommend you & Gabriela to anyone visiting Prague. Best wishes, Illene
Katerina, Thank you for scheduling my 2 half day tours of Prague with Jana. I learned much more about Prague with her guidance than I ever would have learned on my own. Since I only had the weekend, a brief respite from two weeks of business in eastern Europe, your tour immediately immersed me in all things Czech. Being of Czech descent your tour allowed me to connect with the country my grandparents called home 100 years ago. I hope to return with my family and have you share the beauty of the country with them. Happy Holidays, Frank Motycka
Jeannette and I had such a nice time in Prague. You were out of town Katerina, but our guide was knowledgeable and very prompt. Thank you for a wonderful time!!! Best wishes, John
My husband and I were fortunate enough on a recent trip to Prague to engage Katarina Svobodova(0wner of Praguewalker, Praguewalker.com) as our guide for one full day. The day was the highlight of our 5 days in Prague. She tailored the day to our interest, her English was wonderful, and her knowledge of the history and places as well as her love of her beautiful city shown through all we saw.
Just wanted to put in a good word for PragueWalker. We spent 2 afternoons with Vilma touring Prague in October 2008, and had a wonderful experience. In addition to her knowledge of history and architecture, Vilma did a great job of adapting our walk to the needs of a baby, as our 8-month old daughter was with us.
Our first impression of Katerina was through email contact. She replied quickly and concisely addressing our requests, and we arrived in Prague assured that she would meet us at our hotel. We had a great morning with her! She met us at our hotel and toured us through the Jewish Quarter. Afterwards, she recommended a couple of restaurants and sights for the rest of our trip. Time spent with her was like spending time with someone we knew. Her colleague, Vilma and driver Rusty, took us out the Kutna Hora the next day. During a coffee break we had a relaxed friendly chat with Vilma. These moments are the best, time spent with genuine friendly people!
Hi Katerina, Thank you very much for arranging our 4 hour walking tour of Prague with your associate Gabriella. My wife and I had a wonderful time and received an excellant overview. Gabriella was energetic, well informed and a pleasure to be with. I will highly recommend your tour to any of friends who visit Prague. Thanks again. Jon (April 4, 2009)
Prague Walkers provided our group with services on May 18 & 19 2009. Our guide was Gabreil Zelenkova. She was excellent. Her thoughtful approach made our visit to the major city sites so very interesting. Our group came away from our visit to Prague with new respect for the people of this beautiful city. I will certainly recommend Prague Walkers to any of our friends and colleagues who plan to visit.
Our little group of choral singers could not have had a better introduction to Prague and its history and culture than you gave us on our recent visit. It was the first for all of us, but thanks to your well-designed and fascinating introductory tour on our first day we were able to make the very most of our few days in your marvelous city, feeling very much at home. And we loved the later visit to Bertramka and the Estates Theater in which you helped us feel the presence of Mozart and his particular affection for the people of Prague.
I for one can hardly wait for the time when I can return to that magical place. When that time comes, you can be sure I'll be in touch with you, as you are certainly one of its best ambassadors! Thank you for the opportunity to meet you and the charm, flexibility, and care with which you created this unforgettable experience for us.
Our guide, Misa, provided us an amazing 2-day tour around Prague! We thought that the 'Prague At A Glance' and 'Jewish Town' tours gave us a perfect overview of your amazing city. Misa was very knowledgeable and easy going... our entire group really enjoyed our time with her. I would highly recommend Praguewalker's services (and Misa specifically) to anyone visiting Prague. Thank you for helping to make our trip truly memorable!
During four hours of each of our two days in Prague in September 2009, we enjoyed seeing the city with Katka. We sat down in the lobby our hotel with her each morning and mapped out a plan for the day, then headed off sightseeing. Although we hit many sights tourists are drawn to, we usually took routes that were off the beaten path.
What made our tours with Katka so special, and well worth the reasonable fees that she charged, was the way she wove her personal history, and that of her family, into the political and cultural history of Prague and the Czech Republic. Her insightful store of knowledge allowed her to speak extemporaneously, rather than simply recite a litany of facts memorized as part of a set tourist-spiel, as well as answer the many questions we posed to her. She also gave us restaurant recommendations and helped us navigate the city’s tram system. She is incredibly personable with a great sense of humor, and our only regret was that we were not able to spend all of each day with her.
Dear Katerina, We had an enjoyable tour with Jana during our trip to Prague. She was very knowledgable and helped us navigate the city. We would recommend your company to anyone traveling to your beautiful city. Best regards, Jane
We had a great experience with our private guide while in Prague. Katerina at Praguewalker.com set us up with Gabriela, who was terrific. She was wonderful – prompt, articulate, happy to answer any questions we had, and able to show us places that we would never have found on our own. She led us on a 4 hour ‘Overview of Prague’ walking tour that took us from our hotel near Wenceslaus Square to Old Town Square, across the Charles Bridge, to Kampa and the Castle. The next day she led us on a 3 hour Jewish Quarter tour that was also excellent. With its tiny winding lanes and compact layout, Prague is the best walking city I have ever visited, and a private walking tour is an ideal way to become familiar with the city.
In early October my family and I spent a week in Prague visiting my son who is studying at FAMU. We had heard from a friend who had taken a Praguewalker tour that they were a great resource and that the architectural tour they took was fantastic. It was only later after sending Katerina Svobodova an inquiry (with an almost immediate response from Katerina) and then buying Rick Steves book on Prague that I noticed that he recommends them as a tour company. I can see why he does. Katerina and the tour guide (Lucy) were at every step responsive to emails and phone calls as well as shifting schedules. We had actually been in Prague for two days before our tour and our guide simply adjusted our tour to accommodate what we hadn't seen. It was great! Lucy was extremely knowledgeable about every place we went, patient with our slow pace at times when we were taking photographs, and just a joy to be around. I would book another tour with them in a heartbeat.
